Do you have a mess in your microwave that you keep putting off to clean? Or is it a mess you dread to even start because you think it's going to take you hours and hours? Not only is it possible to get a squeaky clean microwave without using harsh chemicals, but this is also hands-down the easiest way to clean a microwave. Yep, you read that right... if you’ve been avoiding cleaning your microwave, this all-natural lemon trick is going to make you very happy - check it out below.
What You Need To Start
Here's everything you need to clean your microwave :
- A small (microwave safe) bowl/ measuring cup
- 1 lemon
- A clean, dry dishtowel
Step-By-Step Instructions
- Measure the water: Measure 1/2 cup of water into a measuring cup or bowl.
- Add the lemon: Slice the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the water. Then drop the lemon halves into the bowl.
- Microwave for 3 minutes: Place the bowl in the microwave and put on high power for 3 minutes so the liquid comes to a boil.
- Let stand for 5 minutes: Do not open the microwave door; let the trapped steam inside the microwave loosen the food gunk. Let it stand for approximately 5 minutes.
- Clean the microwave: Open the door and carefully remove the bowl that contains the lemons. Wipe the inside of the microwave clean starting with the ceiling and the sides. If your microwave has a turntable, lift it out and wipe it clean.
- Scrub the stubborn areas: If you come across stubborn spots that won’t easily wipe away, dip the corner of your dishtowel in the lemon-water and scrub until the area is clean.
- Remember the door: While you’re wiping the microwave, remember to wipe down the door as that often gets dirty.
- Replace the turntable: If you took it out, put the turntable back and you’re good to go — the nice, clean microwave you wanted... it's that easy!
